A pedestrian was struck by an on-duty police officer who was responding to a 911 call on at about 2 a.m.
According to a TPD press release, Officer Chris Fenoglio was travelling east on Speedway Boulevard when he struck Steven Duane Rodgers, 34, who was crossing the road from south to north near Santa Rosa Avenue.
According to the release, the officer was driving with his siren and lights on. Rodgers was not in a crosswalk at the time of the crash.
Details on the speed with which Fenolglio was driving were not provided.
The TPD Trafic Division is investigating the crash as is the Office of Internal Affairs to determine if the officer followed department protocols.

The second pedestrian fatality occurred this morning at 8 a.m. on Stone Avenue between Cushing Street and McCormick street near the Tucson Police Department’s station. No more details were available.
