Hundreds of cyclists participated in a bike ride along the newly connected Santa Cruz and Rillito paths, which was designed to highlight climate change and how bikes can help lower emissions.
Connect 2 Tucson officials said 210 cyclists signed up for the ride Saturday morning. The ride was designed to highlight how a bicycle used for transportation can help lower emissions.
The route took riders though downtown and north onto the Santa Cruz River Path. The Santa Cruz path connected to the Rillito River path toward the east. Eventually riders moved onto Mountain and returned to the University of Arizona campus.
Event officials organized entertainment, speakers and information booths when the riders returned.
