Arizona drops two spots in LAB’s bike-friendly list

According to the League of American Bicyclists, Arizona is less bike friendly than last year.

Arizona dropped from the seventh to ninth most bicycle-friendly state.

The LAB evaluates states based on six areas: legislation, policies and programs,
infrastructure, education and encouragement, evaluation and planning, and enforcement.

Arizona’s lowest ranking was in the policies and programs section of the ranking.

According to LAB’s press release, “The BFS program is revolutionizing the way states evaluate their quality of life, sustainability and transportation networks, while allowing them to benchmark their progress and work toward improving their bicycle-friendliness. The rankings are used to create momentum amongst states and communities to continue to become more bicycle friendly.”

In the second paragraph.... shouldn't this say "Arizona dropped from the seventh to ninth most bicycle-friendly state." (instead of "city")?

Yea, probably true, buttheir ridership is real low sorelated aspects to that mightbe a drag.

I don't know that Phoenix could have pulled us down in the ranking as much as the other states did more. Phoenix hasn't done anything less than normal, right?

Looks like New Hampshire and New Jersey didsome things to raise themselves in the ratings.Easier to do, maybe, in a little state.Is Phoenix acting like the big 'boat anchor'in the statewide evaluation?What's up with Maine?

We dropped a couple of spots because hispanic looking cyclists are going to start getting pestered for ID all the time.Or maybe I shouldn't say "start" - as that's kinda' been SOP for a while. :-P
