Thanks for stopping by the TucsonVelo forum. I hope as the site picks up steam, you will continue to return and post in the forums. It would be helpful if you could tell your friends about the site.

What do you want to see covered by the site?

Thanks again.

Cool!  I've been contemplating throwing together a Tucson based all-rider bike forum for a while - I'm sure glad I managed to resist the temptation long enough for somebody else to step up and do all the work.   Cheesy

Well you could certainly help by getting the word out!

I'm hoping they will become popular enough that people will actually use them.

15 members already and not one other can be bothered to pop in and say hello? Huh

I think some of them maybe spam bots, but I'm not positive.

Well, now we're positive of at least one.   Roll Eyes

Yeah.... I banned that one. I've been spending more time tweaking the main site, that I haven't gotten around to beefing the forum up.
I know there are some spam filters and whatnot. I'll start looking into that stuff soon.

Not that it's a big issue, but the "time posted" clock appears to be an hour fast.

Oh-boy - spam for breakfast!   Grin

Does spamming ever lead to a single sale at this point?  Or even so much as a click-through?  It makes sense that spamming should have died off by now as unprofitable in a free market, even automated, even at high volume, because a lot of time and effort is still required of someone just to stay ahead of the filter technology, so they have to register at least a minimum percentage of sales just to pay for that.  I've never met a single person that sees a spam and says "hey - I could use one of those" - not even for Viagra.

My theory is that they're collecting a paycheck from the people who sell the filter software.

My task for this evening it to figure out how to keep the spammers off the site.

WooHoo! All 3 of us on here.

Liking the site - not sure I'll have much to contribute to the forums, but I'll keep my eye, ears, and camera peeled - and spread the word.

I think I have this fixed and I have an anti spam registration addon installed. So Hopefully that will help.

Wow, looks like all the discussion is taking place on the blog now - I really thought the forum would see a little more traffic than this.  36 members as of today, we've heard from maybe a fourth of that, and only once or twice from most of those.  I should talk, I've been too busy lately to spend any time in here myself.  Perhaps it would increase membership and usage if at the bottom of each blog post there are two choices - "comment here" or "discuss in the forum" which would just take you to the forum index page?

Commenting a blog entry is fine, but some topics are ongoing, and it's not conducive to useful discussion to have to search through months of blog entries if you have something new to bring up on an older topic - only to be lost again as soon as it sinks off the "recent comments" list.
